Posted by: | Comments‘Frank Frazetta- A Tribute to an Extraordinary Man’
‘When he was young, and he was young for a very long time, he ran with the wind, danced between raindrops to stay dry, hit baseballs so far that he laughed at their disappearance. And when he drew, the Italian Renaissance lived in his hands. He painted in smoke so soft it looked like real light not paint. His materials were simple, so basic. He hated artistic pretense. With a child’s $2 watercolor set, he painted exquisite studies. And with a few worn brushes, he painted masterpieces in his living room beside his TV on a shaky cheap easel. Just last week we laughed on the phone. Hey Frank, you just sold a painting for ! million dollars that you were paid $150 to do! He loved that. He laughed. He was fine, happy, still working, proud of the sale. He knew he was good but did he know he was the best ever? Did he know he taught millions of artists how to dream? He never repeated a drawing. He always created anew, discovering again and again what it meant to create, to be a true artist that copied no one, not even himself.
A world without Frank Frazetta makes no sense. No one like him will ever appear again. Remember him well.’

| Get this player from Fairtilizer! |
So in the wee hours I see Slick on IM and show him the artwork I was messin’ with for this mashup, he pretty much scoffed at it and sent his version like…10 minutes later, I ain’t kiddin’. I think I’ll go with his version.

Mu
Posted by: | CommentsLooks cool, pretty sure I’d never come out the pocket for it though…
JazzMutant have just dropped the first teaser video for their upcoming controller for the Lemur platform. Mu offers super-tight integration with Ableton Live thanks to Max for Live.
The system features a clip launcher which will display name, color and playing status of clips in your session, and is even dynamically resizeable.
The built-in device selector also allows you to select any Live device from any track and bring up a custom controller specifically designed for that effect. You can even create your own interface for that particular device – remix your controller!
The big difference between this and the Lemur’s previous capabilities is that it’s all plug and play. The configuration is automatic and the mappings are dynamic and mapped via OSC. All you need to do is drop the Max for Live device into Live’s master track and Mu will do the rest.
