FFFreak!
Posted by: | CommentsSacramento, I have a new gig coming to The Press Club showcasing that 80′s Funk with a splash of Freestyle thrown in.
“FFFreak!” starts 9/20 and is a night I’ve been wanting to do for a couple years now but just didn’t know with who and where. Well now the stars have aligned and I linked up with some cool people and we have found a home for this baby. This venue gives us the opportunity to bring in guest Djs and acts as well, hope to see you out Sacto!
Resident DJ’s will be CrookOne and DJ Hailey. Also DJ’n on opening night and on occasion will be Dogtones (Beat Electric / KDVS).
Mexicans With Guns
Posted by: | CommentsI’ll be rocking a set at the Mexicans With Guns show at Sol Collective.
Late Night Tuff Guy – I Get Deeper
Posted by: | CommentsI’ve fucking lost it to this a couple of times now, most notably when Optimo dropped it around 2am in a rammed and sweaty Sub Club on the last Bank Holiday Sunday. Massive.

Ground Lift Media, Cold Grums Productions, and the Minnesota – based design collective Burlesque of North America have joined forces to present the 2011 installment of DRE DAY: A Celebration of the Life and Music of Dr. Dre. February is quickly approaching, and this will be our ninth year celebrating Andre Young and his creative contributions to the world of Hip-Hop.
It’s time to strap on your Compton hats and locs and celebrate the music and legacy of one of the greatest Hip-Hop artists of all time, the icon responsible for introducing the world to acts as diverse as N.W.A., Snoop Dogg, The D.O.C., Eminem, J.J. Fad, 50 Cent, Arabian Prince, and so many more. Bring your friends and celebrate the important birth date and memorable works of Dr. Dre!
Dre Day 2010 exceeded everyone’s expectations, and as a result we’ve upped the ante for 2011 with a larger venue, more headliners, and a dozen plus guests MCs! As the unofficial Dre Day Chicago house band, the Funk/Soul collective The Jordan Years perform live-renditions of classic Dre as well as original songs Dre sampled. Chicago’s own Instrumental Hip-Hop duo The Opus takes the stage with live remixes of Dre’s catalog while local hero Mic Terror acts as the Master of Ceremonies. Also featuring DJs Intel, Maker, Trew, Big Once, Pickel, & Kool Hersh, Live video installation by killchnnl, Live art by Rahmaan Statik and Scottfree. Photobooth by Virgil Solis (of Rubyhornet.com).
In continuing with the tradition set by last year’s Dre Day celebration, swag bags and additional Dre Day merch will be available (sticker packs, screen-printed 40 oz. bags), as well as a hosted Colt45 bar 9pm-10pm ($3 tall boy specials remainder of event).

DRE DAY 2010

LIKE WE ALWAYS DO ABOUT THIS TIME…..
Tonight is the Chicago DRE DAY celebration and I could not be more excited. This is a party that was started by my homie Mike the 2600 King and his amazingly talented design crew at Burlesque of North America. In addition to Chicago and the Dre Day founding city of Minneapolis, our homie Nick Hook is holding down the party in NYC. This year there are also parties in Winnipeg, Saksatoon, Austin, Philadelphia, Portland, & Tampa.
This year’s Chicago DRE DAY will smash our 2009 party and of course will incorporate DRE DAY favories like the Chronic album cover photo booth, the $20 sack pyramid game, free 40 ozs, and much more. Peep below for details.
